What pooled studies report for SP vs multiport
The SP literature is newer than multiport RARP. There are no randomised trials yet; findings come from comparative cohorts and meta-analyses. Full references are on the Evidence page.
Pooled comparative work: similar operative time, catheter time, complications, continence, potency, margins, and biochemical recurrence; hospital stay shorter for SP after sensitivity analysis (WMD about half a day).
Meta-analysis: SP-RARP associated with shorter stay and lower opioid requirement vs MP-RARP, with comparable perioperative and oncological outcomes.

Dr Kooner is a urological surgeon with a long experience in robotic and minimally invasive urology. On Thursday 15 January 2026 he completed NSW's first pure Single Port robotic prostate procedure using a true single-incision technique without additional assisting ports, after structured training and intra-operative proctoring by Dr Ryan Nelson (USA), an internationally recognised SP robotic surgeon.
Single Port surgery is offered at St Vincent's Private Hospital, Sydney, the first hospital in NSW to install the da Vinci SP system.
